Even for a company renowned for its ingenuity, this was ambitious. And it wasn’t easy. We spent days on the telephone, and long nights on the internet. For a while it seemed like it couldn’t be done - by anyone. Then, suddenly, we found a port with a single ticket available. So our instructor set off on an epic journey: thirteen hours by road, sea and much, much more road, to reach a country ordinarily an hour’s flight away. The interesting thing is this. Despite gloomy news and weather reports, our delegates were expecting us in Holland on that Monday morning. Logic dictated we wouldn’t be there, but their long experience of our stubborn dedication made them think we would. Results In almost thirteen years of business we’ve never missed a course; in fact we’ve never even been late. We’ve never come in over agreed budgets, and we’ve never missed an important deadline. Our standards are impossibly high, and we intend to keep them that way. At some point that restive volcano may well thwart us, who knows. We’re only human. But it will have to try harder if it wants to keep us from our customers. Until the rematch, we’re proud to say it’s: Jazztech 1 - Eyjafjallajökull 0. (Update. Since writing this, Grimsvötn has attempted to stop us getting to Ireland. It also failed. Result: Jazztech 2 - Icelandic volcanoes 0). Eyjafjallajökull, Iceland, 2010.
